The Lord had birthed a vision in my heart, about 9 years ago, but it wasn’t until 2018 that He gave me the “what” of that vision and confirmed this what over and over. The Lord has continuously revealed details of this vision to me over the past two years and is still doing so presently. I pray He always does as things will have to adjust as we all know. I’m writing to you, Brothers and Sisters, because the Lord has told me that now is the time!

As some may know, the Lord saved me from the grips of drugs, amongst other things and has continued to change my life. While I was in rehab in 2011, He placed a desire in my heart to help others struggling with addiction the moment I asked Him back in my life. I first went my own way in what I thought that meant, but through finding the Lord again and truly placing and keeping my faith in Him, He has slowly and faithfully grown my heart for those struggling and opened my eyes to His will for my life and shown me how to truly have victory.

The Lord has given me the vision of this ministry, Freedom Ministries – Safe Haven, to take women, and someday men, from wherever they are coming from and give them a place to stay, free from drugs and alcohol, learn the skills they need to live independently, and most importantly, to hear the Gospel daily. Without a doubt, I know the Lord has called me to love and meet people where they are in this life and show them His truth.

I have seen first and second hand what drugs and alcohol are doing to lives and I want to help. I feel called to help, and I can’t fight the calling anymore. I know the Lord is the only answer to true and lasting freedom from alcohol and drugs, and I want to share the truth and freedom with others. The Lord has called us not only to preach the Gospel, but to make disciples. I feel strongly led to help those hurting and lost find their way to the Cross and stay there along with helping them with the skills they need to live independently which includes helping them to secure a job, budget finances, get into independent living all while hearing the freeing Message of the Cross daily.

So often people hear the Gospel and are saved but don’t have anything else, and eventually, or even right after getting savedgo back to the streets or the only life they knew. I want to help people get set up and connected to the Word of God and make sure they have what they need physically, and as well, teach them how to maintain these things independently. I want to show others that they don’t have to suffer and continue in the lifestyle that is killing them. The Lord has given me a heart for those struggling with addiction and that lifestyle that accompanies addiction, but I can’t do it alone.

I am writing this to ask for your help, as you feel led. I am starting to take donations as this letter is being sent so that we can get started as the Lord has moved on my heart that now is the time. With the help of my church, Jesus Worship Center in Lafayette, LA, I will be starting out small with a group of six women once we find a place for housing. I want to be clear with you on where we are in the process. This has and is being prayed over, and through a lot of discernment I feel led to start small, though the vision from the Lord is larger.

Obviously, I can’t do anything without finances, and the Lord has led me in the direction, at least for now, to be donation based. The women who will be attending would be able to live for free and once they have secured a job would begin paying rent of $50 a week which would go towards housing and utilities. I am working on the structure and the plans as I am praying over each and every detail. This is His plan, and I want to make sure His plans are followed through and not mine. The women will have some guidelines to adhere to in order to stay as well.

I will not compromise the Gospel in helping women find freedom, and I know that true freedom is only found when one repents and puts their faith daily in what Jesus Christ did at the Cross for all of humanity. I will be sending out monthly newsletters with updates so people involved, or all who are interested will be able to follow along and prayerfully see lives changed! Please let me know if you have any questions and please keep me and those helping me in your prayers and the women that come to us, as prayers are always desired and needed!

With deep love and thanks,

❤️Houston

Mission statement: To be the hands and feet of Jesus, teaching Salvation, Sanctification, and victory exclusively through Faith in Jesus Christ and what He did at the Cross while providing safety, security, and teaching independent living skills in a drug and alcohol free environment.

What we believe: We believe in God, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and we believe the Bible. We believe all our needs, from Salvation to continued Sanctification along with physical, emotional, and mental needs, are met through Jesus and His finished work at the Cross. Through belief in Jesus and what He did at the Cross, every chain of addiction can be broken and freedom given because He took our place at Calvary. Humans tend to make things complicated when all we need is the simplicity of the Message of the Cross.

o For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life. - John 3:16

o Therefore being justified by Faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. By Whom also we have access by Faith unto this Grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the Glory of God. - Romans 5:1-2

o But God commend His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now Justified by His Blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the Death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom we have now received Atonement. - Romans 5:8-11

o Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the Ministry of Reconciliation. - 2 Corinthians 5:17-18
